The body is ribbon-like, narrowing to a point. The dorsal profile of the head is uniformly convex. The lower margin of the subopercle is convex, and the pelvic fins, resembling scales, are positioned below the 47th to 50th soft dorsal fin ray. In its fresh state, the specimen appears silvery white, transitioning to silvery grey with dark cloud-like patches after death. The jaws and the bases of the dorsal and anal fins exhibit a dusky coloration.
